My New Favorite Operating System

I’ve been using the Pro version of Windows 11 a lot, and I think maybe I have been wrong all along. There’s maybe some very good reasons to purchase Win Pro:

Of course if your working in an enterprise environment and your administering many PCs using Policy Editor or Active Directory you have to be using Pro. That said is there any other reasons?

  1. It does not require a Microsoft account for all users. Of course there is a hack that fix this in Home.
  2. Hyper-V – A native hypervisor for Windows 10 and 11 Pro. This hypervisor runs on the hardware not on Windows therefore it is very fast. It is much better than the type 2 hypervisors like VirtualBox or VMware Workstation.
  3. Active Directory – This is strictly a enterprise thing, but it is very cool. Everyone in the office can use any workstation PC with there own credentials. All of there files will be there in there home directory. This would not be very useful in a home environment
  4. Windows Sandbox provides a lightweight desktop environment to safely run applications in isolation. Software installed inside the Windows Sandbox environment remains “sandboxed” and runs separately from the host machine. A sandbox is temporary. When it’s closed, all the software and files and the state are deleted.
  5. Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), a secure network communication protocol offered by Microsoft, allows users to execute remote operations on other computers. It facilitates secure information exchange between remotely connected machines over an encrypted communication channel. How secure is Windows RDP? There is client software that is in Windows 10-11 home, but not the server.
  6. Windows Hello is a new way to sign in to your devices, apps, online services, and networks. It is more secure than using a password, because it uses “biometric authentication”—you sign in with your face, iris, or fingerprint (or a PIN). Even if your Windows 10 device can use Windows Hello, you do not have to.
  7. BitLocker is the Windows encryption technology that protects your data from unauthorized access by encrypting your drive and requiring one or more factors of authentication before it will unlock it. Windows will require a BitLocker recovery key when it detects a possible unauthorized attempt to access the data.

There are many other features most are used in the workspace, but they are very reinteresting none the less.

For me in particular are, Hyper-V, Sandbox, and Remote Desktop Protocol. I will investigate some of the other features to see what is useful.

How to get Pro

The best way to get Windows 10 – 11 Pro is purchase it with a PC. The difference in price is little to none.

The upgrade cost $99 and the full version is $200.

Most people will never use the features in Pro therefore they should save their money.
