2-Step Verification

Keep your online accounts safe from any criminals who maybe trying to gain access to them by adding an additional factor of authentication. Google 2-Step Verification adds an additional and foolproof security measure to your online account logins. When you go to the login page of an online account you are now asked to enter your login name and password. 2-Step Verification will ask you for an additional code that you will  be sent to your phone via text, voice call, or our mobile app. This is a one time code and it only last one minute. I criminal would need to know your login name and password but would also need access to your phone.
You can make the computers you use often trusted and it will not continue to ask you for passwords. If you lose your phone you can login to a trusted computer to deautorize it. Not only is Google using 2-Step Verification but many other sites are adopting it including:  LastPass, WordPress and Dropbox.

When reading about 2-Step Verification it may seem very difficult but it is not too bad. Any intermediate tech user can pull this off. Just follow the instructions carefully!

Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator is a mobile app for Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows Phone that generates one-time passwords for 2-Step Verification. You enter your site logins using a bar code scanner after which it will generate a new code for that site every minute. Google Authenticator makes 2-Step Verification much more convenient.
