Linux Mint is by far the easiest Linux distribution. It is extremely fast, stable, full featured and packed with all of your favorite opensource as well as some proprietary software. Installing Linux Mint is a breeze. Far easier than Windows. Linux Mint is a much lighter operating system, using much less CPU, disk space and RAM than Windows. Mint has a user interface that any Windows user should be familiar.

I have had my disappointments with some Mint DE’s but have found Cinnamon to be the most consistent of all over the past seven years or so. Unlike Xfce that had let me down badly when there was no solution available. Out in the wild and away from civilization, utter dependability and even predictability is of paramount importance. Stability and reliability essential. As most of us here use our notebooks as wireless hotspots, Linux Mint Cinnamon does this with graceful ease and aplomb. Out of the box, everything just works.
