Like Google, Microsoft has made a major investment in web applications.  Beyond “Outlook” its web-mail client they now have “Office” apps on the web. Office 365 is the online version of “MS Office”. 365 has all of the applications that enterprise users have grown to love including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Office 365 also includes;

  • Cloud-based email
  • Shared calendars and contacts
  • Instant messaging, PC-to-PC calling, and online conferencing
  • Intranet site for sharing files
  • Public-facing website
  • Easy to set up and administer
  • Antivirus and anti-spam filtering
  • Microsoft community support
  • Financially backed 99.9% uptime guarantee
  • Subscription to desktop version of Office Professional Plus 2010
  • Live 24 x 7 customer phone support
  • Active Directory Synchronization
  • Hosted voicemail support
  • Unlimited email storage and archiving

Office 365 is a professional application and like MS Office for the desktop it is very expensive at $6 and up per user, per month. For the casual Office user there is a free alternative.
