WordPress does not have to be a blog at all. You can create a page and then make it the homepage and link to other pages on your site.

To do this click “Pages” and “Add New”. Put your text, images and formating on this page. Publish the page. When that’s done go to “Settings” and “Reading”. Next to “Front page displays” select “A static page (select below)” and use the dropdown to select the page you just created. Go to the bottom of the page and save changes. Now if you click Home or the blog title you’ll see that page and not a blog.
